Getting ready to check-in!
The field of jerseys. As you walk to check-in, every team in Pelotonia has their jersey in this field.
Pick a table, any table! Even with over 7,000 people riding this year, the volunteers are always able to find registration packets quickly.
I rode with Jeremy and his son again this year. His son was doing the 50 mile route, and Jeremy and I did the 100 mile route. It was much cooler at the start this year. We all had on arm warmers, and I was wearing a wind vest as well.
Just waiting for the start.
We'll be heading under that banner in a few minutes!
And we're off! Beautiful sunrise, beautiful day to ride!
The ride went right by our neighborhood this year! Claud and our friend Leslie came to the entrance of the neighborhood to cheer me on. They came back a little while later to cheer on Leslie's husband, Chris, who was also riding but had a later start time.
My buddy across the street, Gaston, and his dad, also came out to cheer me on!
Riding through the countryside.
Rest stop at about mile 38. Jeremy's son got back on the bike after this, and his legs started cramping. We kept encouraging him and had him continue to stay hydrated. He made it to the lunch stop, mile 50!
Always a good lunch for us!
Plenty of people at the lunch stop this year, unlike last year, when Jeremy and I had a late start and were there with about five other people.
Still smiling at mile 78! It warmed up a bit, so I ditched the arm warmers and wind vest.
This is also at mile 78. These people aren't smiling. Jeremy and I realized since we averaged 14.5 mph for the first 50 miles with his son, we still felt fresh and strong at mile 78.
100-mile finish! Jeremy's son came to ride the last couple of miles to the finish with his dad. 😊
Best support crew ever!! 💚
Thank you again everyone for all your support!!
